Sapele
Sapele is a West African hardwood, with a reddish-brown colouring, often used as a modern-day replacement for Mahogany. Popular for dark handrails, Sapele has a fairly close texture and is known for its durability. There is some variation in colour, which is to be expected, but this wood stains beautifully for a classic dark period finish.
